Grand Avenue Club has moved to 210 Michigan Street

(corner of Michigan and Water)

Grand Avenue Club assists a very worthy group of our fellow citizens to take their rightful place in society as workers, students, neighbors, tenants, home-owners and friends.  Based on the clubhouse model of psychiatric rehabilitation, Grand Avenue Club has a three year certification from the International Center for Clubhouse Development.  Grand Avenue Club has a strong day program, a successful Employment Program, access to decent, affordable housing for members, and offers support for members who want to attend school.  The clubhouse's evening, weekend, and holiday cultural and recreational opportunities are unparalleled (and fun!).

Grand Avenue Club's new home was built in 1856 and is the oldest commercial building in the city.  It housed the offices of Milwaukee’s pioneer entrepreneurs and the city's first bank.  Now the building will provide a permanent home for Grand Avenue Club.  Since our move on February 27, members and staff have been walking tall.  The location bestows dignity upon every member and speaks volumes about the mighty value of our members to the Milwaukee community.  Clubhouse ownership feels good.

Most importantly, our new home:

v   Is within easy access of public transportation, making it easy for people from every Milwaukee County neighborhood to participate in the community.

v   Is in close proximity to quality employers.

v   Has large, well-ventilated bright rooms which will allow Grand Avenue Club to expand its membership and activities.

v   Newly constructed ADA elevator.

v   New  constructed Commercial Kitchen.

Membership in Grand Avenue Club is open to any Milwaukee area adult who has experienced mental illness.  In our beautiful new setting, we continue to prepare meals, publish our newsletters, manage our funds, develop private sector jobs for our membership, manage our funds, keep detailed records, i.e. do whatever is necessary to keep our community going.

The clubhouse telephone number is 414-276-6474.  If you are interested in membership or would like a tour, please call the Membership Unit (x26).  If you an employer with interest in our Employment Program, please call Pamela Weisser, Program Manager at (X29).  If you would like to make a contribution, please call our Executive Director (x28).  If you would like to contribute work-worthy clothing, furniture, or household goods, please call our re-sale shop, "Ain't It Grand!"(x34) .
