20g: Selection and training of members on Transitional Employment is the responsibility of the clubhouse, not the employer.
This Standard gives the employer an incentive to offer a T.E. We select and train members for their jobs; the employer does not have to worry about interviewing and training new people. It is helpful for us because we do not have to go through the interview process, something that intimidates many members, placement managers and employed members. Many of us find it easier to learn a new job from someone we already know. The success of our clubhouse’s Transitional Employment program is based on a comfortable and trusting relationship between the clubhouse and employers, as well as among colleagues.
