This Standard integrates us into the community. This is a large step from the sheltered workshops of our not so distant past. Further, nonmembers (employers especially) need to know that we can be an integral, productive part of the workforce. This also motivates us to learn coping techniques, and it gives us the satisfaction of being an asset to an employer.
